DETROIT, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Edgar Renteria's two-run double came in a five-run eighth inning Thursday when Detroit rallied for 5-1 win over Toronto.
The shortstop's second hit of the game helped Detroit avert a four-game sweep.
Miguel Cabrera started the rally with an RBI single, and later, Brandon Inge's lone hit, a two-run single, capped the uprising against losing pitcher Jason Frasor (1-2).
Cabrera and Renteria had two hits apiece and Detroit right fielder Magglio Ordonez extended his hitting streak to 13 straight games with a third inning single.
Winner Armando Galarraga (11-4) surrendered an earned run and six hits in eight innings with two walks and six strikeouts.
Toronto starter Jesse Litsch hurled seven shutout innings, giving up four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Blue Jays' only run scored on Lyle Overbay's fifth inning homer.
Joe Inglett had two of the six hits for Toronto, who had won seven of their previous 10 contests.
