BEIJING, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Michael Phelps became the all-time Olympic gold medal record-holder Wednesday with a triumph in the 200-meter butterfly.

Phelps broke the world record in the event for the seventh time, swimming a 1:52.03. It was his 10th career gold medal, the most in Olympic history, and his fourth of these Games. He remains on track to break the single-Olympic gold medal record of seven, owned by Mark Spitz.

The silver medal in Wednesday's race went to Laszlo Csch of Hungary and the bronze to Takeshi Matsuda of Japan.
