BEIJING, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- China earned its fourth Olympic gold medal in as many tries in the sport of diving Wednesday and it was not close.

Wang Feng and Qin Kai captured the men's synchronized 3-meter springboard event. It was the last of the synchronized diving competitions at these Games. The Chinese will be favorites to win the four solo diving competitions when they get started later this week.

Wang and Qin scored 469.08 points and the Russian pair of Dmitry Sautin and Yuriy Kunakov had 421.98 points to finish second.

It was the eighth Olympic medal in Sautin's career. He first appeared in the Olympics in Barcelona 16 years ago and has won four bronze medals on the springboard, a gold and bronze on the platform and a previous silver in the 3-meter synchronized event.

The bronze went to Ilya Kvasha and Oleksiy Prygorov of Ukraine.

Americans Chris Colwill and Jevon Tarantino finished fourth, less than 5 points out of a medal position.
