OAKALND, Calif., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Two-time all-star Carl Crawford of the Tampa Bay Rays will have surgery and won't play for 6-8 weeks, the team announced Tuesday.

Crawford was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday.

Surgery is needed to repair a tendon on Crawford's right middle finger.

The Tampa Bay club made the announcement in Oakland, where the Rays played the Athletics.

Crawford is batting .273 with 57 RBI and 25 stolen bases this season.
