CNN suspends Martin for Super Bowl tweets


MASON, Ohio, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Nadia Petrova scored a straight-set win Tuesday to reach the second round of the Western & Southern Financial Women's Open in Mason, Ohio.
The Russian player breezed to a 6-3, 6-0 win over countrywoman Galina Voskoboeva at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Petrova will take on American Julie Ditty in the next round.
Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak, the sixth seed, ousted Aiko Nakamura of Japan 6-3, 6-2.
Other winners included American Vania King and Julie Vakulenko of Ukraine. King outlasted Tahiana Garbin of Italy 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 and Vakulenko beat Romanian Monica Niculescu 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
The hard-court tournament is considered a tuneup for the U.S. Open, which begins Aug. 25.
