MLB: New York Mets 4, Washington 3

WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Johan Santana, with help from two relievers, notched his 10th victory of the season for the New York Mets Tuesday in a 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals.

Santana (10-7) worked seven innings, yielding three runs and eight hits, striking out six batters. Joe Smith and Pedro Feliciano kept the Nationals scoreless the last two innings.

The Mets went ahead to stay in the eighth when Damion Easley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Carlos Beltran had three hits, including two doubles, and David Wright added two hits and scored twice for the Mets.

Ryan Langerhans homered for Washington, which lost its fifth straight game.

Saul Rivera (3-5) took the loss.
