Kirilenko, Srebotnik win at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Maria Kirilenko and fourth-seeded Katarina Srebotnik won their first-round matches Monday at the Western & Southern Financial Open in Cincinnati.

Kirilenko beat Su-Wei Hsieh 6-2, 7-5 and Srebotnik eliminated Amanda Fink 6-3, 6-3.

Two seeded players went down to qualifiers. Camille Pin eliminated seventh-seeded Ekaterina Makarova 6-2, 6-0 and Petra Cetkovska dropped Tamira Paszek, the eighth seed, who retired in the third set when she was down 4-6, 6-3, 4-1.

Lilia Osterloh beat Anne Keothavong 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-4; Julie Ditty ousted Meng Yuan 2-6, 6-1, 6-4; Sabine Lisicki eliminated Anna Tatishvili 5-7, 7-5, 6-0; Stephanie Dubois beat Evgeniya Rodina 6-2, 7-6 (7-3); and Nathalie Dechy downed Olivia Sanchez 6-2, 6-2.
