NFL: San Diego 31, Dallas 17

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Jacob Hester scored two TDs and gained 49 yards on 13 carries Saturday night and the San Diego Chargers beat Dallas 31-17 in NFL pre-season action.

The Chargers took Hester third overall out of LSU in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Marcus Thomas, a fifth-round pick out of UTEP, carried the ball 13 times for 48 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards for San Diego. Darren Sproles had five rushes for just seven yards but scored once and Mike Tolbert had just one carry, but it was a 1-yard touchdown run.

Philip Rivers hit on 5-of-6 passes for 54 yards for San Diego.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was 3-for-3 passing for 33 yards.

Tashard Choice picked up 40 yards and a TD on seven rushing attempts and Deon Anderson scored on a two-yard run for Dallas.
