MILWAUKEE, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Ben Sheets hurled Milwaukee's second straight complete-game shutout Saturday when the Brewers registered a 6-0 win over the Washington Nationals.
Sheets (11-5) yielded five hits with no walks and six strikeouts, and was as dominant as 270-pound southpaw CC Sabathia, who threw a 5-0 shutout Friday for his sixth straight winning decision since joining Milwaukee in a trade with Cleveland in July.
In Saturday's contest, Sheets helped himself with an eighth-inning RBI single.
Ray Durham and J.J. Hardy hit back-to-back fourth-inning solo homers. Corey Hart hit a solo homer and drove in two runs, while Gabe Kapler had one RBI for the Brewers, who moved within four games of the NL Central Division-leading Chicago Cubs.
Ronnie Belliard had two of the five hits for the Nationals, who have split their last four games.
Losing pitcher Tim Redding (8-7) surrendered five earned runs and seven hits in five innings.
