
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Brad Penny went five strong innings and Jeff Kent drove in three runs Friday night in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 6-2 win over San Francisco.
Penny (6-9) -- returning to action from the disabled list -- allowed one run on one hit with three walks and no strikeouts for the Dodgers.
Kent had one hit and scored a run, Matt Kemp had two hits and a run scored and Casey Blake homered for the Dodgers, who won for the fourth time in their last six games.
Jonathan Broxton came on with two out in the bottom of the ninth and issued one walk but then got the final out for his seventh save.
Giants starter Barry Zito (6-14) gave up five runs on six hits in five innings with three walks and one strikeout.
Bengie Molina had two hits, including a home run, and drove in both runs for San Francisco, which lost for just the third time in seven games.
