DETROIT, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Eddie Jones' 41-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter gave the Detroit Lions a 13-10 pre-season victory Thursday over the New York Giants.

Jon Kitna passed for 106 yards for the Lions and connected with Roy Williams on a 20-yard touchdown toss.

David Carr completed 10 of 13 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown for the Super Bowl champion Giants. New York's Eli Manning completed just two of six passes.

Carr's touchdown pass was a 13-yarder to Craphonso Thorpe in the fourth quarter.

Detroit then marched down the field to set up Jones' winning kick.
