NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Jody Gerut, Brian Giles and Chase Headley hit solo homers for San Diego Wednesday, powering the Padres past the New York Mets 4-2.
The Padres scored their other run on a fielding error by New York's David Wright.
Cha Seung Baek (4-6) got the win, allowing two runs and eight hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Dan Murphy and Wright each drove in a run for the Mets, who have dropped five of their last six games.
Loser Pedro Martinez (3-3) gave up three runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings.
