MLB: Minnesota 7, Seattle 3

SEATTLE, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Denard Span''s three hits and four RBI led Minnesota's 7-3 win over the Seattle Mariners Wednesday.

The rookie outfielder's RBI came on a three-run triple in the top of the second inning and a bunt single in the eighth.

In the field, he robbed Seattle's Adrian Beltre of a potential game-tying solo homer with Minnesota holding a 4-3 advantage.

Brendan Harris had two hits, including a two-run eighth inning double.

Adam Everett had one RBI and two others had two hits to help the Twins avert a three-game sweep.

Winner Nick Blackburn (9-6) yielded three earned runs and nine hits in six innings.

Beltre led Seattle with two hits and two RBI.

Jeremy Reed had two hits and one RBI, while the Mariners' Jeff Clement and Raul Ibanez added two hits each.

Losing pitcher Jarrod Washburn (5-11) gave up four runs -- three earned -- and five hits in six innings with three walks and six strikeouts.
