
CINCINNATI, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Ricky Weeks and Jason Kendall each hit two-run singles Wednesday in boosting Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-3 victory against the Cincinnati Reds.
Weeks' single gave Milwaukee a 3-1 lead two outs in the top of the second inning and Kendall's hit increased the lead to 6-3 with one out in the sixth following a double steal by Corey Hart and Mike Catheeron.
Winner Jeff Suppan (7-7) yielded three earned runs and seven hits in seven innings.
Behind two other relievers, closer Salomon Torres recorded his 22nd save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Jay Bruce knocked in all of Cincinnati's runs with an RBI ground-out in the first and a two-run home run in the third. The home run extended Bruce's hitting streak to 10 games.
Bruce and Jolbert Cabrera had two hits apiece in the Reds' fifth loss in their last six games.
Losing pitcher Homer Bailey (0-6) surrendered six earned runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
