ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain had an MRI Tuesday on his shoulder.

Chamberlain left in the fifth inning of Monday's loss to the Texas Rangers with a stiff right shoulder. He returned to New York on Tuesday and had the shoulder examined. The club did not reveal the results of the MRI, but has made plans for Chamberlain to visit Dr. James Andrews in Alabama for a second opinion.

When Yankees trainer Steve Donohue checked on Chamberlain, the 22-year-old pitcher was removed from the game.

Chamberlain gave up five runs on eight hits in his worst outing since being inserted into the Yankees rotation in early June. He had not allowed more than three runs in any of his previous starts.
