SAN DIEGO, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux notched career victory No. 352 Sunday when the San Diego Padres topped the San Francisco Giants 4-1.
Maddux (5-8) yielded an earned run and just two hits in six innings, and at the plate, he helped his cause with an RBI single in the bottom of the second. It had taken the likely hall of fame right-hander 14 starts to get his 350th win earlier this summer.
Closer Trevor Hoffman earned his 23rd save.
Nick Hundley, Brian Giles and Kevin Kouzmanoff each added one RBI, with Kouzmanoff hitting a solo homer in the eighth.
Giles and Jody Gerut had two hits apiece for the Padres, who ended a four-game losing streak.
San Francisco scored on Randy Winn's first-inning single.
Dave Roberts and Rich Aurila added one hit each for the Giants, who had won three of five.
Losing pitcher Kevin Correia (2-6) allowed two earned runs on just three hits in 6 1/3 innings.
