MLB: Kansas City 14, Chicago White Sox 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Kansas City's Mike Aviles and Miguel Olivo drove in three runs each Sunday and the Royals buried the Chicago White Sox 14-3.

The loss dropped Chicago out of first place in the American League Central for the first time since May 17. The Sox are now in second behind the Minnesota Twins, who beat Cleveland 6-2.

Aviles had a two-run homer and run-scoring single among four hits in four at-bats. Olivo hit a two-run double and was credited with another RBI when he was hit by a pitch.

Billy Butler had three hits, two RBI and scored two runs for Kansas City, which has won six of its last seven games.

A.J. Pierzynski homered for the White Sox in their sixth loss in eight games.

Zack Greinke (9-7) was the winner, allowing two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Loser Clayton Richard (0-2) was pounded for nine runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
