Ty Wigginton's solo homer staked Houston to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Later, three other Astros also each knocked in one run.

Wigginton was one of three players with two hits for the Astros, who have won six of their last seven games.

Carlos Delgado had three hits, while both Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes had two hits but the Mets never got a timely hit. They went 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position.

Losing pitcher Oliver Perez (7-7) gave up four earned runs on eight hits in six innings.
