BUDAPEST, Hungary, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen won the Hungarian Grand Prix Formula One race Sunday at the Hungaroring auto course in Budapest.

His No. 23 McLaren Mercedes crossed the finish line 11 seconds ahead of Toyota's Timo Glock, with Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (Renault) and pole-winner Lewis Hamilton (McLaren Mercedes) completing the top-five.

The victory made Kovalainen a first-time winner at a F1 race after starting in the second position behind Hamilton.

He is the 100th different driver to record a victory in an F1 race.

"This is a great moment for me, something I've been targeting for many years," Kovalainen said. "Hopefully, this victory will be the first of many."

"Welcome to the world of winning," McLaren boss Ron Dennis told Kovalainen.

Hamilton was trying to become the first driver to win three-straight F1 races since Michael Schumacher in 2006, and his lead in the standings is five points ahead of second place Raikkonen.
