Edwards wins auto race at Pocono

LONG POND, Pa., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Carl Edwards drove his No. 99 Roush Fenway Ford to victory at Sunday's rain-delayed Pennsylvania 500 at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond.

He achieved his victory by beating Tony Stewart and pole-winner Jimmie Johnson to the checkered flag for his fourth Sprint Cup win this season.

"I just can't thank my guys enough," Edwards said in a post-race television interview. "Ford Motor Co. makes the best cars out there."

Edwards was happy after he argued with crew chief Bob Osborne for a pit stop for fuel shortly before the 41-minute rain delay.

He took the lead with 13 laps left and Mark Martin also made a pit stop for fuel. The move cost Martin an 8th-place finish.

Kevin Harvick and David Ragan completed the top-five.

In the Sprint Cup standings, Edwards leads with 2,874 points. Johnson is second with 2,859 and Stewart, with 2,569 points, is in third place.
