Won Awesome Dude wins key race

SHAKOPEE, Minn., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Won Awesome Dude won the richest of seven Claiming Crown races Saturday, the $150,000 Claiming Crown Jewel.

The event was resumed Saturday following a one-year absence. This was the eighth time it has been held at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn.

The 5-year-old, who won by one length, had not been entered in a claiming race since May 2007.

Quiet Queen, a 30-1 long shot, won the $100,000 Lady Canterbury Stakes. A 16-1 long shot, Cat Hop, won the $100,000 John Deere Tiara Stakes.

Eagle Storm won the $100,000 Daily Racing Form Rapid Transit and Self Made Man, the favorite, won the $100,000 Bremer Bank Emerald Stakes.
