WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- D.C. United, which has the second-worst defense in Major League Soccer, got its first shutout of the season Saturday, 2-0 over Kansas City.

Luciano Emilio and Jaime Moreno each scored for the winners and Zach Wells matched a season high with eight saves to earn his first shutout in a D.C. United uniform. D.C. United improved to 8-8-1.

Kansas City never really threatened while dropping to 5-6-7, good for last place in the MLS East.
