ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- David Murphy's two-run single climaxed a three-run ninth inning Friday and rallied the Texas Rangers to a 9-8 victory over Toronto.

The Rangers overcame an early 6-0 deficit, thanks in part to a two-run homer by Josh Hamilton that boosted his major league-leading RBI total to 106.

The game was tied going into the ninth, but Toronto scored twice off beleaguered closer C.J. Wilson.

B.J. Ryan (2-4) came on in the bottom half of the inning and gave up a one-out walk to Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Michael Young followed with a single and Brandon Boggs doubled in Saltalamacchia to make it a one-run game.

Marlon Byrd was walked intentionally to get to Murphy, who lined a two-run single past a diving Scott Rolen at third and made a winner out of Wilson (2-2).

Hamilton suffered from dizziness in the sixth inning and left the game. Temperatures were above the 100-degree mark at game time and Hamilton had not played in the field for two days.

Texas starter Tommy Hunter made his major league debut and allowed six runs. He is the seventh rookie starting pitcher the Rangers have used this season, a club record.
