
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Esteban German's three hits and three RBI Saturday propelled the Kansas City Royals' 9-7 victory against the Chicago White Sox.
Billy Butler, Mike Aviles, Miguel Olivo and Ross Gload also had three hits in a 17-hit attack. Butler hit a two-run third-inning homer, while Olivo and Jose Guillen hit solo shots.
Winner Kyle Davies (5-2) gave up three earned runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings and closer Joakim Soria followed three other relievers to record his 31st save.
Chicago got RBI from seven different players, with Jim Thome, Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko and Brian Anderson all hitting solo homers.
Thome had two of the 10 hits in the White Sox' fifth defeat in their last seven games.
Losing pitcher Mark Buehrle (8-10) was torched for eight earned runs and 14 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Chicago's Ken Griffey Jr. had a 17-game hitting streak against the Royals snapped before he left in the fifth with right leg cramping.
