
BOSTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Kevin Youkilis hit a pair of two-run homers and the Boston Red Sox trounced the Oakland Athletics 12-2 Saturday night at Fenway Park.
Youkilis' first homer was part of a five-run rally in the bottom of the first inning. The second capped the rout with no outs in the eighth.
Recently acquired Jason Bay launched a three-run shot in the first, extending his hitting streak to 10 straight games.
Jed Lowrie had two hits and three RBI. Two others had one RBI and five players had two hits in the Red Sox' second win in a row.
Winner Jon Lester (10-3) surrendered two earned runs and seven hits in seven innings with a walk and five strikeouts.
Oakland's runs scored on Emil Brown's first-inning homer. Frank Thomas had two of the seven hits in the Athletics' eighth loss in their last nine games.
Losing pitcher Dana Eveland (7-8) was shelled for nine earned runs and eight hits in two innings.
