NEW YORK, July 31 (UPI) -- Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando, who allowed one goal in four July games, was selected Major League Soccer's player of the month.

Rimando posted shutouts in Real Sale Lake's first three games in July and finished with a 2-1 win over Toronto FC. He kept Houston, Columbus and Chicago scoreless while Real Salt Lake was going 2

2 during the month.

That streak boosted Real Salt Lake, which has lost once in its last 10 games, to first-place in the MLS Western Conference for the first time.

The MLS honor was the first for Rimando.
