MILWAUKEE, July 31 (UPI) -- Jim Edmonds knocked in five runs Thursday with two homers and the Chicago Cubs completed a four-game sweep with an 11-4 victory at Milwaukee.
Edmonds hit a solo homer in the top of the third inning and a grand slam in the fourth. His batting average has risen to .241 since the Cubs signed him following his May 9 release by San Diego.
It was Edmonds' 27th multi-home run game and increased his career total to 375 homers.
Kosuke Fukudome had two hits, one a two-run eighth inning homer, Alfonso Soriano hit a solo homer in the eighth, Mark Fontenot had two RBI and Cubs' catcher Geovany Soto added two hits for the Cubs.
Winner Rich Harden (1-1) yielded an earned run and six hits in seven innings with a walk and nine strikeouts.
Milwaukee's run scored on Prince Fielder's 22nd homer this season in the seventh. Gabe Kapler had three hits and Ryan Braun two in the Brewers' fifth straight defeat.
The losing pitcher was starter Dave Bush (5-9).
Chicago left Miller Field four games up on St. Louis and five games ahead of Milwaukee in the NL Central Division.
