
PITTSBURGH, July 29 (UPI) -- Luis Rivas's three hits and three RBI Tuesday carried the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Rivas started at second base in place of Freddy Sanchez, who did not play for the second straight night because of back spasms. Rivas tied a season-high for hits in a game.
Nate McLouth and Jason Bay each went 2-for-4.
Yoslan Herrera made his fourth start of the season for Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks in five-plus innings. Jason Davis (1-0) got the win after pitching a scoreless inning of relief.
Glendon Rusch gave up three runs on six hits in a five-inning start for the Rockies. Matt Herges (3-4) allowed two runs in the sixth inning and was charged with the loss.
Brad Hawpe was 3-for-3 with a double and RBI and Ian Stewart went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Colorado.
