PHILADELPHIA, July 29 (UPI) -- Kareem Rush, an NBA free agent guard, has agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia Enquirer said the deal was worth just under $1 million for a year. That figure would be the NBA minimum for a sixth-year NBA veteran.

"As we continue to build our team, we're fortunate that we were able to sign a player as talented as Kareem Rush," Sixers General Manager Ed Stefanski said. "We feel his abilities on both ends of the floor and his range as a three-point shooter will be assets to us this season."

Rush, 27, played one season with Indiana and averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 rebounds last season. He has also played for Charlotte and the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 6.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists a game.

Rush's heading for Philadelphia breaks up a potential NBA brother act as Brandon Rush, the 13th overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft, was traded to Indiana by Portland.
