Tommie Harris' wife dies

MIAMI, July 28 (UPI) -- Dan Uggla and Cody Ross drove in key runs in a five-run eighth Monday when Florida beat the New York Mets 7-3 to pull within one game of first in the NL East.
John Baker homered and scored a pair of runs for the Marlins and Ross drove in two. Robert Andino had a two-run double in the eighth for Florida.
Doug Waechter (3-2) got the win despite allowing the Mets to take the lead in the top half of the eighth.
Fernando Tatis was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Damion Easley had two hits and an RBI for New York, which had won four of its previous five games.
Joe Smith (1-3) suffered the loss.
