LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) -- Derek Lowe turned in strong eight innings and Matt Kemp and Nomar Garciaparra homered Saturday in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 6-0 win over Washington.
Lowe (8-8) gave up just one hit while striking out four and walking one to get the win, and also drove in a run.
Joe Beimel allowed one hit in one-third inning of relief and Cory Wade got the final two outs to wrap up the Dodgers' second straight win and their fourth win in six games.
Kemp staked Lowe to an early lead with a first-inning, two-run homer off Nationals starter Odalis Perez (3-8). Garciaparra drove in a run in the first with a sacrifice fly and then led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run.
Casey Blake, acquired in a trade with Cleveland, had two hits and scored a run in his Dodgers debut. Angel Berroa had an RBI for LA.
Perez lasted just four innings, giving up six runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and no walks for Washington, which has lost five straight and 15 of its last 18 games.
Ronnie Belliard had a double and Willie Harris had a single for the Nationals' only hits.
