MLB: Detroit 6, Chicago White Sox 4

DETROIT, July 27 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson and Marcus Thames hit solo homers and Miguel Cabrera added a two-run single Sunday, pacing Detroit to a 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Ivan Rodriguez contributed four hits and scored a run in the Tigers' fifth win in seven games.

A.J. Pierzynski and Jermaine Dye homered and Jim Thome singled in two runs for the Sox, who had won their previous four games.

Zach Miner (5-3) pitched six innings to pick up the win, yielding two runs and five hits.

The loser, Javier Vazquez (7-9), surrendered all of the Detroit runs and 11 hits over seven innings.
