CLEVELAND, July 26 (UPI) -- The disappointing Cleveland Indians continued their firehouse sale Saturday, trading third baseman Casey Blake to the LA Dodgers for two minor leaguers.
The prospects are pitcher Jon Meloan of Class AAA Las Vegas and catcher Carlos Santana of Class A Inland Empire.
Blake, 35, will be a free agent next off-season and his stay in Los Angeles could be short.
This season, the career .265 hitter has a batting average of .289 with 11 homers and 58 RBI.
The Indians will pick up what remains of his 2008 $6.1 million salary.
MLB.com reported that Blake began cleaning out his locker when the Indians traded 2007 American League Cy Young award-winner CC Sabathia to the Milwaukee Brewers this month.
The Dodgers hope he adds to their anemic offense as they battle the Arizona Diamondbacks for the National League West Division title.
