Ryan Briscoe wins IndyCar pole

EDMONTON, Alberta, July 25 (UPI) -- Ryan Briscoe won the pole Friday for Saturday's inaugural Rexall Edmonton Indy -- the fourth consecutive qualifying victory for Team Penske.

Briscoe traveled a temporary 1.973-mile course set up on an airport runway and nearby streets in one minute, 0.7311 seconds.

It was the second pole of the season for Briscoe and the third of his IndyCar career. Teammate Helio Castroneves qualified second.

Oriol Servia and points leader Scott Dixon will start on the second row and the third row will be made up of Will Power and Justin Wilson.
