OAKVILLE, Ontario, July 24 (UPI) -- Mike Weir, Anthony Kim and Eric Axley shot 6-under-par 65 Thursday to share the lead after one round at the PGA's Canadian Open in Oakville, Ontario.
Weir, a native of Sarnia, Ontario, is trying to bounce back on his home turf from a tie for 39th place at last week's British Open in Southport, England.
His bogey-free round included three birdies on both the front and back nines at the par-71 course at the Glen Abbey golf club.
Axley finished the best round in his third season on the PGA Tour with an eagle at the par-5 18th hole and Kim partially negated a bogey at No. 17 with a closing birdie to join the leaderboard tie.
Kim is seeking his third victory of the season.
Five players -- J.P. Hayes, Richard Johnson, Nicholas Thompson, Ryan Armour and Jason Allred -- are locked in fourth at 4-under 67, with a group of 12 tied for ninth at 3-under 68.
The round featured a 5 1/2-hour rain delay.
Ochoa's 7 birdies lead at Evian Masters
EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France, July 24 (UPI) -- Lorena Ochoa shot a 7-under-par 65 Thursday and owns a 1-stroke lead at the Evian Masters golf tournament in France.
Ochoa, who had six birdies on the back nine, was a shot in front of Sun Ju Ahn, Candie Kung and Angela Park.
The front-runner birdied the first hole, but then had eight straight pars.
"I had a slow start," she said. "I made a birdie on the first hole and didn't give myself a lot of birdie chances after that. I got some confidence from the putts on 10 and 11, and started feeling good over the ball. I finished making six birdies on the back, so I have no complaints. I'm really happy."
Mets move into division lead
NEW YORK, July 24 (UPI) -- Carlos Delgado's two-run double lifted the New York Mets over Philadelphia 3-1 Thursday and into first place in the National League East.
With the contest tied at 1-1 and two away in the eighth, Delgado laced an offering from losing pitcher J.C. Romero (4-3) down the line in left.
Three other Mets had one hit each and David Wright drove in the other run for New York, which won twice in the three-game series.
Winning pitcher Aaron Heilman (1-3) retired the only batter he faced in the eighth and Billy Wagner worked around a hit in the ninth for his 26th save.
Jayson Werth's seventh-inning homer accounted for Philadelphia's run. The Phillies have lost four of their last five games.
MLS wins All-Star Game
TORONTO, July 24 (UPI) -- Dwayne De Rosario scored on a penalty kick in the 69th minute Thursday, giving Major League Soccer a 3-2, All-Star Game victory over West Ham United.
The MLS All-Stars improved their record to 5-0 in the format that sends them against foreign competition.
West Ham opened the scoring on the first of two goals by Dean Ashton, who broke in alone in the 26th minute. Christian Gomez tied it a minute later, sending a shot across the goalmouth and into the left corner.
Cuauhtemoc Blanco put MLS in front in the 43rd minute with an acrobatic shot that caught the top right corner of the net. Ashton tied it in the 67th minute, but De Rosario was fouled in the box by Lucas Neill and made good on the penalty kick.
