OAKVILLE, Ontario, July 24 (UPI) -- Mike Weir, Anthony Kim and Eric Axley shot 6-under-par 65 Thursday to share the lead after one round at the PGA's Canadian Open in Oakville, Ontario.

Weir, a native of Sarnia, Ontario, is trying to bounce back on his home turf from a tie for 39th place at last week's British Open in Southport, England.

His bogey-free round included three birdies on both the front and back nines at the par-71 course at the Glen Abbey golf club.

Axley finished the best round in his third season on the PGA Tour with an eagle at the par-5 18th hole and Kim partially negated a bogey at No. 17 with a closing birdie to join the leader board tie.

Five players -- J.P. Hayes, Richard Johnson, Nicholas Thompson, Ryan Armour and Jason Allred -- are locked in fourth at 4-under 67, with a group of 12 tied for ninth at 3-under 68.

The round featured a 5 1/2-hour rain delay.
