ST. LOUIS, July 23 (UPI) -- Bill Hall homered in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday to hand the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Brewers are now 1 1/2 games back of the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central after winning their sixth straight. St. Louis fell to 2 1/2 back of first.
Milwaukee's Prince Fielder broke up Kyle Lohse's perfect game with a single in the fifth. He later added an RBI single. J.J. Hardy was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Rickie Weeks doubled and scored once with an RBI.
Brian Shouse (4-1) earned the win with a perfect eighth.
Ryan Ludwick hit a solo home run, and Rick Ankiel and Yadier Molina had run-scoring hits for St. Louis.
Kyle McClellan (2-5), on in relief in the ninth, took the loss.
