ANAHEIM, Calif., July 23 (UPI) -- Jeff Mathis had six RBI Wednesday, four with a grand slam homer, to boost the LA Angels over Cleveland 14-11.
He had four hits in all to lead the Angels' 19-hit attack and the slam snapped a 6-6 tie with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
He added a two-run double in the sixth.
Howie Kendrick had four hits and three RBI.
Gary Matthews Jr. drove in two runs.
Casey Kotchman and Erick Aybar had one RBI each and Kotchman had five hits for the Angels, who have won two straight.
The winner was starter John Lackey (8-2).
Closer Francisco Rodriguez earned his 42nd save.
Cleveland's Ryan Garko had three hits, one a two-run fourth inning homer, and four RBI.
Shin Soo-Choo had two hits and two RBI.
Three others had one RBI and Jhonny Peralta also had three hits for the Indians, who have split their last six games.
The losing pitcher was starter Aaron Laffey (5-7).
