Tommie Harris' wife dies

KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 23 (UPI) -- Placido Polanco and Magglio Ordonez drove in two runs apiece Tuesday, carrying the Detroit Tigers to a 7-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
Polanco hit a solo homer and an RBI groundout, while Ordonez hit a pair of RBI singles. Matt Joyce, Miguel Cabrera and Gary Sheffield each added run-scoring hits to the win.
Kenny Rogers (8-6) went six innings, surrendering just one run on four hits and a walk. He struck out four.
Kyle Davies (3-2) took the loss, despite giving up only two runs on five hits in four innings.
Mark Grudzielanek went 3-for-4 and had the only RBI for the Royals.
