
PHOENIX, July 23 (UPI) -- Conor Jackson drove in three runs and scored twice Tuesday in the Arizona Diamondbacks' decisive 9-2 win over the Chicago Cubs
Jackson had a solo homer among his three hits for the night as Colorado won for the third time in its last four games. Orlando Hudson also hit a solo shot and Stephen Drew had an RBI and scored twice for the Diamondbacks.
The winner was Yusmeiro Petit (1-1), who allowed one run on three hits in five innings for Arizona, which has a one-game edge over Los Angeles for first place in the National League West.
Daryle Ward's solo home run and an RBI hit by Mike Fontenot accounted for the Cubs' runs. Chicago has now lost five of six and is one game ahead of Milwaukee for first place in the NL Central.
Cubs starter Jason Marquis fell to 6-6, giving up three runs on five hits in six innings.
