Ex-NBA player sues real estate company

TAMPA, Fla., July 23 (UPI) -- Former NBA player Matt Geiger has sued a real estate company, saying that Global Assets LLC broke an agreement to buy his Florida home.

In the lawsuit, filed Monday in federal court in Tampa, Geiger claims the company agreed last year to pay $21 million for his house and property in Tarpon Springs, The Tampa Tribune reported.

Geiger, who has two small children with his girlfriend, said that he wants a house that would be better for his family.

In court papers, Geiger's lawyers said he was forced to reject a $15 million offer for the house in December because Global Assets would not release him from the contract. Then in February, the company said it was no longer interested in the property because of the state of the Florida real estate market.

The three-story house has a game room designed like a pub, a theater, cigar room and other amenities.

"It's kind of built for someone when I was in a different stage in my life," Geiger said.

Geiger, who grew up in Florida, spent 10 years in the NBA with the Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers.
