Wozniacki, Garrigues win in Slovenia Open

PORTOROZ, Slovenia, July 21 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark and fourth-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues advanced Monday in the first round of the Slovenia Open.

Wozniacki beat Andreja Klepac 7-5, 6-0. Garrigues defeated Ekaterina Makarova of Russia 6-1, 6-3.

Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic, who won the inaugural tournament in 2005, beat seventh-seeded Suarez Navarro" class="tpstyle">Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 6-4, 6-4. Navarro was a quarterfinalist at this year's French Open.

Also, Britain's Katie O'Brien posted a 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-2 victory over fifth-seeded Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria.
