
CINCINNATI, July 21 (UPI) -- Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a two-run double in the ninth inning Monday and the San Diego Padres held on for a 6-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Kouzmanoff finished with three RBI and Scott Hairston was 2-for-3 with a home run for the Padres, who snapped a six-game losing streak.
Josh Banks gave up four runs on seven hits in a 5 2/3 inning start, but didn't factor into the decision. Clay Hensley (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to take the win.
Trevor Hoffman worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth for his 18th save of the season.
Rookie Homer Bailey started for Cincinnati and gave up three runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. Loser Francisco Cordero (4-3) gave up three runs in the ninth inning.
Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 606th career homer and Edwin Encarnacion homered for the Reds.
