Redskins get Jason Taylor from Miami

WASHINGTON, July 20 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins announced Sunday they have acquired six-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor in a trade with the Miami Dolphins.

In exchange, the Dolphins got a first-round 2009 draft pick and a sixth-round 2010 pick.

The 6-6, 255-pound Taylor has been in the NFL 12 years, all with the Dolphins.

Taylor apparently wanted out of Miami, where General Manager Bill Parcells was said to be displeased with the player's participation in the "Dancing with the Stars" TV show during the off-season.

"We acquired a perennial Pro Bowl player and one of the NFL's top pass rushers," Redskins executive Vinny Cerrato said.

The Redskins had an immediate need for a defensive end Sunday after losing two defensive ends to injuries during training camp. Both 13-year veteran Phillip Daniels and second-year player Alex Buzbee are out for the season, a team report said.
