MLB: Arizona 3, LA Dodgers 2

PHOENIX, July 20 (UPI) -- Dan Haren yielded four hits in seven scoreless innings Saturday and the Arizona Diamondbacks snuffed out a late rally to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2.

Closer Brandon Lyon put down the two-run LA rally in the top of the ninth by retiring Matt Kemp on a routine fly ball to record his 20th save this season.

Three Arizona players had one RBI apiece, including Conor Jackson, who belted a solo homer in the bottom of the first. He and Orlando Hudson had two hits for the Diamondbacks, who assumed sole possession of first place in the National League West Division.

LA's Jeff Kent launched a solo homer in the top of the ninth. James Loney had two hits and one RBI, while Kemp added two hits for the Dodgers, who are 2-4 in their last six games.

Kent's homer accounted for his 1,500th career RBI.

Losing pitcher Chad Billingsley (9-9) yielded three earned runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings with three walks and five strikeouts.
