MINNEAPOLIS, July 20 (UPI) -- Taylor Teagarden's first career home run Sunday was the only extra-base hit in a 1-0 Texas Rangers victory over Minnesota.

The blast ended a perfect-game bid with two outs in the top of the sixth by Minnesota starter Scott Baker, and was one of six hits in the entire contest.

The Rangers' other hits were singles by Milton Bradley in the seventh and Brandon Boggs in the ninth.

Winner Vicente Padilla (11-5), activated from the 15-day disabled list before the contest (neck stiffness), gave up three hits in seven scoreless innings.

After Eddie Guardado worked around a two-out walk to Brian Buscher in the eighth, closer C.J. Wilson earned his 23rd save in the bottom of the ninth.

Minnesota got singles from Buscher, Joe Mauer and Delmon Young.

Baker (6-3) yielded the earned run and two hits in eight innings with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Both teams stranded four base-runners.
