ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 19 (UPI) -- Evan Longoria hit a grand slam homer in the bottom of the sixth Saturday and the Tampa Bay Rays held on to beat Toronto 6-4.

The rookie third baseman's first big league grand slam -- his 17th homer this season -- came off Toronto starting and losing pitcher Roy Halladay (11-7).

Tampa Bay's Cliff Floyd hit a solo homer in the sixth. Carlos Pena had one RBI and Dioner Navarro had two of the 10 hits for the Rays, who had snapped a season-long seven-game streak Friday night.

Winner Matt Garza (8-5) yielded two hits in 7 2/3 scoreless innings with no walks and six strikeouts.

Toronto scored four runs in the top of the ninth but Dan Wheeler ended the rally to earn his fourth save.

Toronto's Marco Scutaro had two hits, one a two-run single in the ninth. Rod Barajas and Lyle Overbay had one RBI each for the Blue Jays, who have dropped six of their last seven road contests.
