ST. LOUIS, July 19 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols' three hits and four RBI Saturday lifted the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-5 win over the San Diego Padres.

His RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 5-5 tie and he also smacked a three-run double in the fifth.

Winner Todd Wellemeyer (8-4) yielded five earned runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Ryan Franklin, the last of five St. Louis pitchers, earned his 14th save.

San Diego's Edgar Gonzalez had two hits, including a three-run homer in the top of the second.

Adrian Gonzalez and Kevin Kozmanoff both drove in one run, but no other player had more than one hit for the Padres, who lost for the fifth straight time.
