BAD GASTEIN, Austria, July 18 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Agnes Szavay survived a grueling match Friday to reach the quarterfinals of the rain-plagued Gastein Ladies Open.

Szavay held on to defeat Melanie Klaffner 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-3) to set up a quarterfinal meeting with seventh-seeded Iveta Benesova.

The tournament schedule was thrown off Thursday when rains forced a postponement of six matches.

Benesova earned her quarterfinal berth with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win over Galina Voskoboeva.

Mariya Koryttseva and Lucie Hradecka also advanced with upset victories.

Koryttseva ousted third-seeded Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) and Hradecka eliminated fifth-seeded Timea Bacsinszky 6-1, 6-4.

To reach the championship match, players must win twice on Saturday. The semifinals will be held immediately following the completion of Saturday's quarterfinals.
