ATHENS, Ohio, July 18 (UPI) -- Frank Solich has agreed with to a contract extension to remain the head football coach at Ohio University through the 2013 season.

Solich is heading into his fourth season at Ohio and is 19-18 at the Mid-American Conference school. The Bobcats were 6-6 last season after a 9-5 record in 2006 that ended in the team's first bowl appearance since 1968.

"I am very excited about the present and future of Ohio football, but I also look forward to helping our student-athletes realize their dreams on and off the field for a long time to come," Solich said in a release. He also thanked the school administration for support "for the entire football program."

Solich was the coach at Nebraska for six seasons, building a 58-19 record and earning two Big 12 Conference coach of the year honors before being fired after the 2003 season.
